Christy Curtis opened CC & Co. Dance Complex in the summer of 2005. It has been her life’s work to create a welcoming, positive, and open space for all children to enjoy dance from the youngest beginning dancer to the most experienced professional dancer. Christy started dancing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1974 and began teaching dance in 1985 and has never stopped! This has been her passion and joy and upon moving to North Carolina, she attended East Carolina University for dance and then transferred to NC State.
She assisted some of the top teachers in the country as well as being an assistant at the very first Jazz World Congress in 1990. Christy has had students that have gone on to dance in college, open their own studios, on to Broadway, TV shows… 2 top 10 SYTYCD dancers, National tours, National companies, as well as numerous accolades and national titles every year! Some of her students are the most sought after choreographers and teachers in the country, but she finds the most pride in the fact that she has “grand students” and families that have been with her for over 20 years as well as numerous staff members that have been with Christy since they were children. The “CC family” is not only students, but also her mother moved to Raleigh seven years ago to work at the studio and run CC’s Closet, the dancewear store. Christy has an amazing husband, Steve and wonderful dog, Lola, who support the studio and the dancers every chance they get!
It is Christy’s hope that all dancers will find CC and Co. their dance family and experience the love of dance in the heart!
